Wilderness experiences are special!

Wilderness and/or desert experiences (from  a Christian viewpoint)!

Hosea 2:14

“Therefore I am now going to allure her;

I will lead her into the desert

And speak tenderly to her (Amplified adds to her heart)”.

We do go into what I refer to as a desert or wilderness experience where we are “dry” or feel isolated and alone.

For me now, I take great comfort in this verse as when I have these experiences because, God’s word clearly says “….. I will lead her/him into the desert..” notice it is not an accident or chance but God Himself has led us into this desert/wilderness place for some specific purpose!

For what purpose we may ask does it have to be a desert?

Meditating on this we realise that in the desert there is absolutely nothing! We also see that here is where there are no distractions, here God can have our full attention. When we can realise afresh He loves us that much to bring us to this place we see it differently.

Note well “I am now going to allure her…” this is an action of love (for allure the Hebrew word is akin to seduce would you believe?) We allure those we love, why? To win them over to us, to have a greater intimacy or simply to be with them and give them our FULL attention, to have a meaningful relationship. God almighty, Abba Father has us in His full focus here because of His great unconditional love for us and wants us to know Him better and to hear and recognise His voice now and in the future, and have a personal relationship with *us*!

We are not here in the desert isolated or deserted by chance or error we are here because God loves us so much He has something that only here can He get our undivided attention to speak to us, directly to our hearts and perhaps get us to completely surrender ourselves to Him totally! He alone is our food and drink as there is no other source for us here in the desert, who knows He may even send ravens to feed us and also provide a spring for us! (I will even make rivers in the desert….), (He who believes in me out of his belly streams of living waters flow… ). A total dependency on Him alone!

Here is a place of intimacy with our creator who is also our God and Bridegroom!

When we see it as a place of privilege and intimacy and not punishment, then we can say like Samuel “speak Lord your servant is listening” and Abba Father will speak tenderly directly to our heart, to affirm His love for us, to let us hear Him, the Creator say “I love you, i love you just as you are, you are so precious to me, I will never leave you nor forsake you”, and who knows what else He may whisper to our hearts in this very special and tranquil place?

We may also recall others in His word He used the desert experience to speak to: Moses,  John the baptiser, Paul (3 years in Arabia) and our precious Lord and Saviour Jesus (40 days). All these were lead/called there for specific purposes, preparation and God spoke to them there. Interesting to note that after this desert/wilderness experience each one of them began an incredible, God purposed and God anointed ministry, so let us take heart when we are in the desert, He is preparing us there for His purposes and plans in the future for our future 🙂

Isaiah may also have had a clue also when he wrote ” I will even make a highway in the wilderness…”.

This loving, Abba Father who leads us into the desert will also lead us safely out of it when the time is right and we are fully prepared and ready to move out from this God appointed place. No scrambling along a sandy path, or struggling over numerous sand dunes or obstacles. He will “make a highway there”! Flat and easy to navigate, we simply walk straight in His will (so many thoughts also on that to expand at another time).

If you are in a desert experience just remember that Abba Father has unending compassion and unconditional love as well as great plans for you!

In His loving service and unconditional love, john (Abba’s Ragamuffin) xXx

My first attempt to blog :-)

Well today discovered blogging, boy are some great granddad’s slow? 🙂

I hope to share on here my thoughts on Abba Father’s great love for each and everyone of us. I have much to learn and excited about this new way of reaching out to others who are feeling unloved, of low worth and “Fatherless”.

My prayer is that you will come to know Abba’s love for you as a precious individual who matters and is dearly loved!

Shalom john (Abba’s Ragamuffin) xXx

The xXx is a simply way of showing Abba’s loved expressed on a cruel cross at Calvary to each of us.

A little about me :-)

My name is john and 8th March, 1947 was a special day (I entered this world) in a place called Derbyshire that was completely snowed in for weeks I am told 🙂

5th August, 1967 was my next memorable day as I married my beloved, marian and this August is our 45th wedding anniversary.

We have 2 daughters who are very precious, 5 grand children and 3 great grand children. The youngest (Lucas) was born with a particularly nasty cancer called nueroblastoma, however, thanks to our loving Abba Father and prayers of literally thousands world wide, the brilliance of a dedicated team of a consultant paediatrician and his team, Lucas has the all clear.

I hesitate writing this as there were those in the ward who did not make it and I have no answers for them, as their child was as precious to them as ours was to us. I would not want to try to give glib answers to such a profound and unanswerable question.

I know I believe we have a loving God (Abba Father) who loves each one of us unconditionally. As St. Augustine put it ” God loves each one of us as if we were the only person in the world”.

About 32 years ago I had an accident that gave me 4 wheels in place of 2 legs and have known the love and comfort of Abba Father especially during these times. Some times were extremely hard, but always there was that hope there. I believe that is down to 3 basics:
Faith
Family
Friends

My health humanly speaking us not too good, as I am about to be treated for Crohns disease. I am saying this to point out that in all this, Abba Father has been faithful and with Him and our
Precious Saviour Jesus, truly do not know how we would have coped.

6 months ago, my beloved wife marian suffered a serious spinal injury also that left her in constant pain and mainly bed ridden until about 5 weeks ago. In * all* that God was faithful and we knew His loving care and provision.

As an ex systems engineer, I still love computers and logic 🙂 Linux , Mac OS X.

I am an avid reader ( mainly of the Bible, God’s love letter to us) and enjoy taking Bible studies and preaching of God’s love for us as opportunities arise.

I try to live my life by my favourite saying by St. Francis of Assisi

“Be special! You maybe the only Gospel, those who meet you ever get to read!”

Adopted as sons and daughters of Abba Father!

I cannot get away from the fact we are adopted as sons and daughters of the living God. It seems too wonderful.
To be adopted is to be specially chosen, set apart, moved from one father authority to another, legally and permanently.
We are translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His Son.

The almighty God, creator of all becomes our Abba! Our unconditionally, loving Father!

All rights, responsibilities and privileges of being His sons are ours!

At the adoption proceedings in Roman times (St. Paul) would know this when he used the word adoption. 3 times the magistrate would ask “do you adopt this child?”. At the last time and positive answer he would declare, “the child is your adopted son”.

Not just that, but all the paperwork and records of the child’s previous life before adoption, like name, criminal record, debts and everything else would have been destroyed by fire when the adoption was officially declared.

So much there for us as children of Abba Father, so wonderful to think upon.

We have a new name.
We come under a different Father and family’s authority and protection.
Our past is obliterated as if it never happened.
All debts are cancelled in full.
We become heirs of our new family both legally and morally.
